Udyam registration gives your small business an official MSME identity. It opens easier bank loans, protection against late payment and several government schemes.

Who it suits

Manufacturers, traders and service providers of any legal form: proprietors, partnerships, LLPs and companies. It suits you if you want business loans, government tenders or support schemes.

Size categories

Your category depends on your investment in plant and machinery or equipment, and on your yearly turnover. The current limits are:

  • Micro: investment up to ₹2.5 crore and turnover up to ₹10 crore
  • Small: investment up to ₹25 crore and turnover up to ₹100 crore
  • Medium: investment up to ₹125 crore and turnover up to ₹500 crore

Limits are revised from time to time, so we check the current ones when we file.

Benefits

  • Easier loans, including collateral-free loans under government credit guarantee schemes
  • Protection against late payment: buyers must pay MSMEs within the time set by law
  • Priority in many government tenders
  • Subsidies and scheme support, such as lower fees on some registrations
  • Concessions on interest and some utility charges in several states

Documents needed

  • Aadhaar of the owner, partner or authorised person
  • PAN of the business or owner
  • GSTIN, if you have one
  • Bank account details
  • Business address and a short description of your activity (NIC code)

Our process

  1. 1You share the documents and business details.
  2. 2We choose the right activity codes and check your category.
  3. 3We file the Udyam application on the government portal.
  4. 4Your Udyam registration number and certificate are issued, and we send them to you.
  5. 5We tell you how to update the registration when your turnover or investment changes.
There is no government fee for Udyam registration. It is usually completed in a few working days once the Aadhaar and PAN details match.

Common questions

Is Udyam registration compulsory?

Not for every business, but it is needed to get most MSME benefits, and some buyers and banks ask for it.

Do I need to renew it?

No. The registration does not expire. You must update details such as turnover and investment when they change, and the portal updates them automatically from your tax returns.

I already have an old Udyog Aadhaar. What now?

Old registrations were moved to the Udyam portal. If yours was not, we help you register again with the new number.

Can a service business register?

Yes. MSME covers manufacturing and services, including traders and retail.
